Pasadena Weekly Reviews Double Dare

FRANK BANG & THE SECRET STASH, Double Dare (Blue Hoss): * * *

Chicagoan Bang’s slide-intensive fretboard workouts are more likely to elicit comparisons to George Thorogood than to his personal heroes, Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughan, and that’s not necessarily bad. More Southern rock than Chicago blues, Bang takes a backwoods stroll with the countrified “Wonder Woman” and Hank-referencing “My Own Country Way,” but he mostly, and most effectively, turns up the heat with those thrilling slide solos.
